Stanson Advisory Group provides independent commercial surface risk advisory to general contractors and others operating in complex construction environments.

The firm was founded to bring experienced, contractor-side insight to the evaluation and oversight of high-value flooring and surface packages. Our role is to support informed decision-making and help reduce avoidable risk across commercial and industrial projects.

Stanson Advisory Group is led by Ben Child, who brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial and industrial surface systems across the United States.

Over the course of his career, Ben built, operated, and successfully exited two specialized flooring and coatings companies serving healthcare, industrial, multi-family, and high-performance commercial projects. Through hands-on leadership across bidding, preconstruction, field operations, and project closeout, he gained firsthand insight into the challenges that frequently impact surface packages.

These challenges often include specification gaps, moisture mitigation disputes, scope exclusions, change-order conflicts, and installation failures — issues that can significantly impact project schedules and contractor margins.

Having worked inside the subcontractor side of the industry for decades, Ben understands how surface systems are priced, negotiated, installed, and warranted.

That experience now serves general contractors and others  from a different vantage point — as an independent, neutral advisor focused solely on risk awareness and informed decision-making.

Stanson Advisory Group was created to provide that perspective.

Stanson Advisory Group provides advisory-only services supporting general contractors through key phases of commercial construction, including:

• Preconstruction review and coordination insight
• Installation-phase observation and reporting

Our objective is straightforward: reduce avoidable risk, protect project margins, and improve certainty across high-value flooring and surface installations.

Stanson Advisory Group does not provide design services or construction management. Our role is to serve as a knowledgeable, independent resource — bringing field-tested experience to the evaluation and oversight of commercial surface systems.
